The Flash Eurobarometer is an European cross-national survey research programme on attitudes, values and beliefs of european citizens. The survey has been conducted since 1987 but unlike Standard Eurobarometer is limited in respect of sample used and provides information on special topics when required by the European Commission.

The arguments of Flash Eurobarometer 253 are as follows:

  • Smoking habits and consumption of non-combustible tobacco products;

  • Exposure to tobacco smoke at home and at the workplace;

  • Status of workplace smoking restrictions;

  • Attitudes towards smoking restrictions in public places;

  • Perceived effectiveness of health warnings on tobacco packs;

  • Extent of tobacco products being bought online;

  • Purchasing of lower-priced cigarettes in other EU countries;

  • Amount of contact with potentially smuggled tobacco products.
